چکیده

Abstract An in vivo experiment was conducted at the College of Agriculture, CMU, Musuan, Bukidnon, Philippines on corn and peanut seeds order to assess antifungal effects different concentrations powdered Bidens pilosa leaves against postharvest pathogens. B. powder thoroughly mixed varying amounts as treatments observed for presence fungal growths during observation period up 35 days. Data gathering revealed occurrence 5 species namely Aspergillus flavus, A. niger, Fusarium sp., Rhizopus M. phaseolina. The best treatment is chemical fungicide Captan, however, T (30 g /kilo seeds) shows potential inhibit growth niger while 4 (20 had or prevent two spp. peanut. It also noted that corn, least count with a value 1.00 peanut, limit pathogenic fungi 1.33. application did not affect significantly percentage germination but promising performance. On Seedling Vigor Index (SVI), influence SVI has shown it better performance compared other treatments. In this research, exhibited its biofungicide.

Bidens pilosa Ethylene acetate extract can protect against L-NAME-induced hypertension on rats

BACKGROUND Essential hypertension is mainly caused by endothelial dysfunction which results from nitric oxide (NO) deficiency. The present study was design to evaluate the protective effect of Bidens pilosa ethylene acetate extract (Bp) on L-NAME induced hypertension and oxidative stress in rats. METHODS Male Wistar rats were used to induce hypertension by the administration of L-NAME (a non-...

Response and potential of agroforestry crops under global change.

The use of agroforestry crops is a promising tool for reducing atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration through fossil fuel substitution. In particular, plantations characterised by high yields such as short rotation forestry (SRF) are becoming popular worldwide for biomass production and their role acknowledged in the Kyoto Protocol. While their contribution to climate change mitigation is bei...

Efficacy of Bidens pilosa Extract against Herpes Simplex Virus Infection In Vitro and In Vivo

The development of strains of herpes simplex virus (HSV) resistant to drugs has been reported among the immunocompromised patients. Thus, there is a need to develop new therapeutic agents for HSV infections. We evaluated the anti-HSV activity of Bidens pilosa (B. pilosa), a tropical weed, in tissue culture cells and a mouse model. B. pilosa extract showed potent virucidal activity. It inhibited...

Anti-adult T-cell leukemia effects of Bidens pilosa.

We evaluated the effects of Bidens pilosa, a plant found in tropical and subtropical regions, and investigated the molecular pathways responsible for the anti-adult T-cell leukemia (ATL) effect. Water extracts of B. pilosa had growth suppressive effects on human T-cell leukemia virus type 1 (HTLV-1)-infected T-cell lines and ATL cells. B. pilosa extracts arrested cells in G1 cell cycle and indu...

Flavonoids, centaurein and centaureidin, from Bidens pilosa, stimulate IFN- expression

Bidens pilosa is used as an ethnical medicine for bacterial infection or immune modulation in Asia, America and Africa. Here, we employed n IFNpromoter-driven luciferase reporter construct and T cells to characterize immunomodulatory compounds from this plant based on a ioactivity-guided isolation principle. We found that PHA, a positive control, caused a six-fold increase in IFNpromoter activi...
